Amy Murray strongly believes that law enforcement and public safety are vital to the health and welfare of our City and community. One of the inherent roles of government is to enforce the law and to keep citizens safe.

That is why Councilwoman Murray has made it a priority to reinstate and fully fund its police recruit classes so that our police force can return to its full complement of just over 1,000 police officers. Along with her efforts to put more officers on the street, she has also made it a priority to provide our police officers with the tools they need to effectively do their jobs.

Her work on the 2017 budget led to the inclusion of purchasing new tasers and new digital cameras for the current fleet of police cruisers. Hiring more officers is important, but it is also crucial to give them the necessary equipment to perform their duties to the best of their abilities.
